The Village Design Statement was compiled by a group of residents in Stroud, including representatives from the Stroud Area Residents Association, the Parish Council, Stroud Village Hall Committee and the Women’s Institute. Other residents and groups were consulted and their views sought.

The Village Design Statement was adopted by East Hampshire District Council (who were the planning authority at that time for Stroud) and can be used as a Supplementary Planning Document when assessing planning applications in the village.

We are now in the South Downs National Park and therefore the SDNPA is our planning authority and their Local Plan also applies to any development in Stroud.
