Planning process
The Parish Council has a statutory right to be consulted on all local planning applications and these are discussed at the council meetings. Although Stroud is in the South Downs National Park, most of our planning applications are managed by East Hampshire District Council on behalf of the SDNPA.
The Stroud Village Design Statement and the South Downs National Park Local Plan are used to guide councillors in their decision making.
The parish council do not make decisions about planning matters, we can only make comments. We are always pleased to see residents at our meetings where planning applications are being discussed. Residents have the opportunity to make their views known during the public participation section of the meeting but we always encourage residents to submit their own views to the planning authority.
